Swiss angle
The Zurich meetup is the association's own evening in the city. The Bitcoin Association Switzerland events page, read on 4 October 2026, lists it as Bitcoin Meetup Zurich, one of its regional meetups in Zurich, Geneva, Luzern, Neuchatel and Basel, and says these meetups take place in local cafes, are free to attend and usually have no speaker. The same page says the association has organised talks and social gatherings since 2013.
The association is a members' club. Nobody at the meetup holds your coins, so this is not a financial service.
The group runs on meetup.com under the name Bitcoin Switzerland. Its group page showed 8,651 members and 554 past events on 4 October 2026, and its description says the evenings are held in German and English.
The venues are in central Zurich. The group page listed the four most recent evenings on 19 August, 2 September, 16 September and 30 September 2026, each a Wednesday at 19:00, at Löwenstrasse 64 or at Brasserie Federal, Bahnhofplatz 15. The listed autumn 2026 dates fell on every second Wednesday; the group does not state a fixed cadence, so check before you go.
On 4 October 2026 the events tab showed no upcoming event yet. New dates appear there, so join the group to get them.
Who it is for
Newcomers who want to ask questions in person. A café table with a few regulars is an easier place to ask how a wallet backup works than a forum thread, and the self-custody guide is good reading before your first visit.
People who already hold bitcoin and want to talk Swiss specifics: which bank lets you withdraw, how your canton treats your holdings at year end. For the tax side, bring the Swiss Bitcoin tax guide with you; for the wider picture, see the culture and economy chapter.
Visitors to Zurich on a Wednesday. The association's events page says its regional meetups are free to attend, so there is no ticket to buy.
Who it is not for
Anyone who wants a structured course. The association's events page says the regional meetups usually have no speaker, so expect open conversation.
French speakers in Romandie, who are closer to the Geneva meetup.
People looking for investment advice. Treat anything you hear as one person's view, and never hand your seed words or a device to someone you met at a meetup.
