RaspiBlitz is an open source project, not a company. The RaspiBlitz home page, read on 4 October 2026, calls it an open-source project, says all parts are MIT licensed, and names Christian Rotzoll in its Impressum. Donations go through Fulmo, which the same page says collects them and manages them with the developer team. The project sells nothing and holds none of your coins, so it is not a financial service.
You can buy it ready-made in Switzerland. The RaspiBlitz shop list names two shops, DIYnodes.com and yourdevice.ch. On 4 October 2026 the yourdevice.ch node category priced a Raspberry Pi 5 full node with a 2 TB SSD at CHF 529.00 to CHF 589.00, assembled and configured, with Umbrel, RaspiBlitz or no operating system as the buyer's choice. The shop's Impressum gives its address as Spitalstrasse 10, 8180 Bülach, with a Swiss VAT number, so a buyer in Switzerland orders from a Swiss seller.
Help comes in German. The home page links community Telegram groups in English, German, Spanish, Italian and Russian.
A node at home does not change your tax duty. You still declare your coins at the ESTV year-end value; the Swiss Bitcoin tax guide explains how. A node does change who sees your addresses: your wallet asks your own node.
Who it is for
Raspberry Pi owners who want to build their own node. The setup guide says RaspiBlitz is optimised for the Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 and needs at least 1 TB of external storage.
People who want Lightning as well as Bitcoin. The project changelog lists Bitcoin Core v29.2 and Core Lightning v25.12.1 for release v1.12.1, and LND v0.19.3-beta for v1.12.0; the GitHub releases API gave v1.12.1, published on 3 March 2026, as the latest release on 4 October 2026.
Anyone who wants an open source licence. The home page says every part is MIT licensed, unlike Umbrel's noncommercial licence on the Umbrel listing.
The node setup guide and the Lightning home setup guide cover the next steps.
Who it is not for
People who want a support contract. Help comes from the community-driven Telegram groups and GitHub issues that the home page lists.
Owners of older Raspberry Pi models. The setup guide names only the Pi 4 and 5.
Anyone who only wants to hold bitcoin. A node needs power, a network cable and updates; start with the self-custody guide.
