Swiss angle

Bitcore comes from BitPay, and the project's pages name no Swiss base. The Bitcore repository, read on 5 October 2026, says "Bitcore is a trademark maintained by BitPay, Inc." The code itself is a toolkit that you run on your own servers; it holds no coins for you, so the library is not a financial service. The project site is bitcore.io.

We found no Swiss office, franc price or Swiss user named on the pages we read, so this listing claims none. The technical deep dive chapter explains the blocks and transactions these tools index.

Who it is for

JavaScript teams that want a whole stack, not one library. The README calls Bitcore "Infrastructure to build Bitcoin and blockchain-based applications" and lists its applications: Bitcore Node ("A standardized API to interact with multiple blockchain networks"), Bitcore Wallet Client, Bitcore Wallet Service ("A coordination service for multisig wallets"), Bitcore CLI and Insight ("A blockchain explorer web user interface").

Developers building shared wallets. Bitcore Wallet Service coordinates multisig wallets, where several keys must sign before coins move, and the wallet client and command line tool talk to it.

Teams that need more than one chain. The same README lists separate libraries for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin and Litecoin, plus a coin-agnostic wallet core. The README names MIT as the licence for all of it.

Who it is not for

Readers who want a bitcoin-only toolkit. Bitcore covers several chains by design. For a library that sticks to bitcoin, look at bitcoinjs-lib in JavaScript or rust-bitcoin in Rust.

Teams that only deploy stable versions without checking the number. The README says even major versions are stable and odd major versions are beta, which may contain breaking changes. The newest tag on 5 October 2026 is v11.10.11, and 11 is odd.

People who want an app. Bitcore is for developers running servers. To hold bitcoin yourself, start with the wallet listings, or check a transaction on mempool.space.
