Swiss angle

mempool.space is a global project with no Swiss base. The About page, read on 4 October 2026, prints a copyright notice for Mempool Holdings S.A. de C.V. and releases the software under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later. It shows data about the Bitcoin network; it holds no coins and opens no accounts, so it is not a financial service.

No fetched page names a Swiss office or a franc price. The site works the same in Zurich as anywhere else: you paste a transaction ID or an address and see where your payment stands. The chapter on sending and receiving bitcoin explains the steps the site makes visible.

The one point that touches Switzerland is privacy. Every address you look up on the public site tells its operator which coins interest you. If you run a node at home, you can run your own copy instead.

Who it is for

Anyone waiting for a payment to confirm. The site draws pending transactions as projected blocks, and the FAQ says it invented that way of showing a node's mempool. The explainer on what happens when you send bitcoin walks through the same journey.

People who want to pick a fee before they send. The FAQ shows four feerate suggestions, from High Priority to No Priority, and says to use them as a guide because they do not guarantee confirmation in any period of time. If a payment is stuck, the same page explains RBF and CPFP, and tells you to work with the wallet you used if you are not sure how.

Node runners who want their own explorer. The FAQ says the project supports one-click installation on Raspberry Pi node systems including Umbrel, RaspiBlitz, MyNode, RoninDojo and StartOS. You will find Umbrel, RaspiBlitz and Start9 in this directory, and the Swiss node setup guide shows where an explorer fits on such a box.

Who it is not for

Anyone who needs help getting money back. The FAQ says that mempool.space merely provides data about the Bitcoin network and cannot help with retrieving funds or wallet issues. Contact the wallet or exchange that made the transaction instead.

People who want certainty about timing. The fee figures are forecasts; the FAQ says miners have their own view of the mempool, so actual blocks turn out different.

Developers who plan heavy automated use of the public site. The documentation pages advertise higher API limits through Mempool Enterprise, and the same FAQ says support for manual self-hosted deployments goes only to enterprise sponsors. A self-hosted instance on your own node avoids both.
