Swiss angle

Koinly is not Swiss. The Koinly terms of service, revised on 2 January 2026, name Koinly Pte Ltd, a company registered in Singapore, as owner and operator, and Ledgerly LLC as merchant of record for paid plans. Koinly imports your transaction history and calculates reports. It holds no coins and moves no money, so it is not a financial service.

Switzerland is one setting in the main app. The Koinly Switzerland guide, updated on 14 April 2026, tells you to pick Switzerland as base country and the Swiss franc as currency, so every balance and gain shows in CHF. The same guide says Koinly offers a Swiss Valuation Report to calculate your total asset value, which is the number the wealth tax needs.

The guide also says the Federal Tax Administration sets the tax value of the most common coins on 31 December each year. You find those values in the ESTV ICTax price list. Before you copy Koinly's total into your return, check that its bitcoin line uses the same rate.

Koinly prices its plans in US dollars. The Koinly pricing page, read on 4 October 2026, says the free plan lets you add transactions and see your figures, and you buy a plan only to download the tax reports. The fact box lists the paid tiers. The same page says Koinly accepts payment in BTC as well as by card.

Who it is for

People with many accounts who want one CHF view of the year. The Koinly Switzerland guide says the app connects to more than 900 exchanges, wallets and blockchains.

Filers who want to see the result before they pay. The free plan on the pricing page shows your numbers without a download, so you can check the Swiss Valuation Report total against your own estimate first.

English speakers. Koinly writes its Swiss guide in English, which suits expats filing in Zurich, Geneva or Zug. The Swiss Bitcoin tax guide covers the canton side.

Who it is not for

Anyone who wants a filled-in Swiss form. The pricing page names specialised tax reports for the USA, Canada, Australia, the UK, Germany, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Switzerland gets the valuation report, and you copy its figures into your canton's securities list yourself. How to declare bitcoin on your Swiss tax return shows where they go.

Buy-and-hold users with one wallet. One balance times one ESTV rate needs no subscription.

People who want their transaction data with a provider in the EU or Switzerland. Koinly runs from Singapore; if that matters to you, compare Blockpit, an Austrian company that owns the former Swiss Accointing.
